Welcome

We are a small kennel in a rural setting at the eastern edge of the City of Ottawa, with over 100 acres of land for our dogs to explore. They love spending time with the cows, chickens, and goats who also reside here on the homestead—which we are currently transitioning into a regenerative farm.

We have long desired to begin a dog kennel, and we settled on Schnoodles and Standard Schnauzers as our breeds of choice for their unique and fun personalities—and, of course, for their looks and hypoallergenic qualities!

Though we keep the Schnauzers in their lower-maintenance natural look to suit their outdoor lifestyle, they are just as handsome with breed-specific grooming. That old-man face with bushy eyebrows and a long beard…it’s love at first sight!

And the Schnoodles—well, you can’t go wrong with mixing our beloved Schnauzers with the qualities that the Poodles bring.

Currently, our breeding program is focused on Schnoodles. We’re not planning any Schnauzer litters in the near future, but we’re thrilled to share our Schnoodle journey with you!

Our Schnauzers are CKC registered.  Our goal – breeding Schnoodles of top quality, with sweet, loving temperaments suitable for families of all kinds.  We introduce our puppies to a variety of people and situations to help them establish a foundation of confidence suited to different types of households.

Stella started it all! Everybody loves her – and we have had many people ask if they could take her home with them! One of the first to greet you when you visit, she will seek all the attention you may be wanting to lavish upon her puppies. She has a very winning disposition and is a loyal friend and mom. Her favourite things to do are chase Jake chasing the ball, sniff out interesting smells in the field, or just laze out in the shade.

Sophie joined our kennel in May of 2025 at the age of 2! She is a loyal and sweet girl, full of wiggles when she is called over. Her favourite thing is to be with her people, but she also loves laundry and trying to steal your coffee. She is quite the character, and loves to talk back and grumble if you make her wait too long before giving the okay to eat her food.

Lily is a very sweet and loyal Schnoodle from a litter of Stella and Toby. She loves curling up on our laps and riding in the car. She also has remarkable leaping abilities, reaching the top of the six-foot kennel walls when motivated. She has enjoyed several camping trips as well. She will turn two next year, and we are excited to see what kind of charming puppies she will have.

Willow is quite a character! She is fearless, loves everyone, and is quick, agile, and super smart. Agility training is in her future! She loves playing fetch and picking up items, such as this clump of freshly cut grass. She is also from a litter of Stella and Toby.

Charlie, also known as Cheerful Charlie, Chuckles, or “Drama Queen,” is our newest addition, a Schnoodle recently adopted from a kennel in Alberta. This little guy is bursting with personality and has a hilariously dramatic response to the slightest offense. We are excited to see what delightful puppies this charmer will produce.

Meet Jake. Affectionately called “Uncle Jake”, he loves hanging out as we go about our day, checking out our chickens and cats. He is more of a farm dog than the others, and isn’t actually part of our breeding program. His favourite pastimes are catching the ball, racing the side-by-side, and lazing in the sunshine. He was the reason we fell in love with the Standard Schnauzer breed and decided to begin a kennel.

Schnoodles

Schnoodles! Even the name is fun!

This breed, described as “forever happy,” is also known as the “Teddy Bear Dog.” It combines two well-established, well-loved breeds—the Schnauzer and the Poodle—to make a winning combination.

There are many varying sizes in both breeds, and thus different possible combinations that could happen. Here at Misty Vale, we have a Standard Schnauzer paired with a Miniature Poodle, resulting in a mid-sized (approx. 12–25 lbs) bundle of hypoallergenic cuteness who isn’t too big but isn’t too delicate, making them an ideal size for a family pet. And the personality of these babies makes them all the more perfect!

The Schnauzer is known for its loyalty and energy. They will follow you and want to be part of the family. It is best not to leave them alone too much or too long—they really would prefer to sit at your feet all day. Our Schnauzers’ favorite place to be is lying in front of the sink if we are working in the kitchen, or under the table sleeping at our feet when we are eating.

Poodles are known to be intelligent, athletic, and versatile family dogs. They are very loving, playful dogs who love to cuddle and listen well. They are known for having springs in their feet and love to leap into your lap.

With a combination like this, you can expect your Schnoodle to be a loyal, super-smart, athletic, loving, and utterly adorable addition to your family. These dogs are active but not hyperactive, and they can make excellent therapy dogs with their gentle and loving nature.

These smart puppies will need their exercise. Expect to give them 30–60 minutes a day to run and play. A smart, bored dog could find their own means of exercise, which may mean trouble.

Their hair (not fur) will be hypoallergenic, as mentioned, and may lean toward curly like Dad or wiry like Mom. Either way, a regular brushing, and a grooming every few months, will keep their good looks at their best!

If you want a new best friend or another member to add to your family, the Schnoodle will meet those desires!
