Schnoodles! Even the name is fun!
This breed, described as “forever happy”, is also known as the “Teddy Bear Dog”. It combines two well established, well loved breeds – the Schnauzer and the Poodle – to make a winning combination.
There are many varying sizes in both breeds, and thus different possible combinations that could happen. Here at Misty Vale we have a Standard Schauzer paired with a Miniature Poodle, resulting in a mid-sized (approx. 12-25lbs) bundle of hypo-allergenic cuteness who isn’t too big but isn’t too delicate, making them a ideal size for a family pet. And the personality of these babies makes them all the more perfect yet!
The Schnauzer is known for it’s loyalty and energy. They will follow you and want to be part of the family. It is best not to leave them alone too much or too long – they really would prefer to sit at your feet all day. Our Schnauzers’ favourite place to be is lying front of the sink if we are working in the kitchen, or under the table sleeping at our feet when we are eating.
Stella, mom to the pups, is an eager-to-please, sweet-tempered, loving, gentle and patient girl. She is excellent with children and seems to sense when you could use her company. She loves zoomie time with her “brother” Jake, as well as car rides and walks. She is super obedient; she knows what areas are off-limits and you won’t find her stealing food off of your counter. She barks to warn us if something is amiss, but is not a barker.
Poodles are known to be intelligent, athletic, and a good versatile family dog. Toby, dad to the pups, is a very loving, playful, intelligent little fellow who loves to cuddle and listens well. He has the springs on his feet that you would expect in a poodle, and loves to sit on your lap. He is very adaptable and happy.
With parents like this, you can expect your Schnoodle to be a loyal, super smart, athletic, loving and utterly adorable addition to your family. These dogs are active but not hyperactive, and can make excellent therapy dogs with their gentle and loving nature.
These smart puppies will need their exercise. Expect to give them 30-60 minutes a day to run and play. A smart, bored dog could find their own means of exercise which may mean trouble.
His fur will be hypo-allergenic, as mentioned, and may lean towards curly like dad or wiry like mom. Either way, a regular brushing and a grooming every few months will keep his good looks at their best!
If you want a new best friend, or another member to add to your family, the Schnoodle will meet those desires!
